When it comes to your skincare routine, sunscreen is the most important step. It protects against environmental aggressors such as sun damage (UVB + UVA rays) and pollution, which causes the first signs aging. I must admit that I haven’t been the best about protecting my skin from the environment. I haven’t had the best luck with finding an SPF that was effective but also transparent and matte on my combination skin.
Oh my goodness! I have a super cool product that I want to share with you. I was lucky enough to have been given this wonderful free sample sunscreen, Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen SPF40, upon my sephora checkout order. Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen is a broad spectrum SPF 40 that claims to be water & sweat resistant and protect against UVA, UVB, infrared, and blue light (light from tech screens).
My belief is that everyone, even men and children, should wear a broad spectrum SPF30 every day when they go out, even during the winter. Why? Because a broad spectrum sunscreen is the NUMBER ONE ANTI-AGING DETERRENT. That is why. That and no smoking. If you do those two things your skin will likely not age that much at all by the time you are 60 years old.
If you had previously been avoiding wearing sunscreen daily because of the white cast or finish it left behind, that changes today. You’re welcome. Horaayy!!!
Back to this auspicious sunscreen. What is so special about it. It is totally invisible. Yes, that is right, you cannot see it when it goes onto the face. Hallelujah, finally a sunscreen that does not leave a white mask and is completely absorbed into the skin, leaving it to do its job without interfering with your makeup. It is a weightless, colorless, scentless, oil-free formula for the face that smooths the appearance of pores, acts like a primer by gripping makeup in place and leave a velvety soft finish. It is perfect for all skin tones too.
The active chemical components that are in it are: avobenzone 3%, homosalate 8%, octinoxate 4.5% and octisalate 5%. Now these are all chemical sunscreen ingredients. That means if you are allergic to them you cannot use this sunscreen. This product also contains silicones. I do not believe that silicones clog pores in most people. Maybe if you are extremely acne prone then you could have problems. Otherwise you should be fine. The silicones allow for slip, making the product slide across the skin and allowing it to smooth the skin. This is also what makes it a wonderful primer.
When you first apply this to the skin it initially feel odd because you are used to thick, heavy sunscreens. This one is light and you honestly do not need very much to cover the face and neck. It goes on quite easily, smoothing the skin along the way. I personally think this is the absolute best sunscreen on the market. Why? Because it is light, invisible protects the skin with minimal effort. If you are not wearing any makeup, make sure to reapply every 2 hours for best sunscreen protection.
whether you wear it with or without makeup, this product won’t clog your pores as it is oil-free, and has a velvety makeup-gripping finish. In addition, the Unseen Sunscreen includes clean and antioxidant-rich ingredients.
REVIEW – THE VERDICT
First Impressions that I was shocked that this Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen was invisible. This sunscreen DID NOT leave a “white cast” on my face which was also shocking because I’m so used to wearing a sunscreen that leaves a white cast on my face. So two thumbs up for it being invisible.
Also, this sunscreen is made to work as a foundation primer and it DID NOT interfere with the application of my foundation. Another huge plus! As far as the texture,it feels nice and silky and leaves my skin looking nice and smooth.
If you are not a fan of dimethicone or “silicone textures” in products, this product is not for you. I personally don’t mind the texture as it helps fill in my pores and leaves a smooth finish on my face. Few of people might not a fans dimethicone or cannot tolerate dimethicone-filled products because of how it affects their skin. So please know that depending on your preference, this Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40 may or may not work for you.
