Caudalie Vinoperfect “All-In-One” Brightening Essence

At first I was a little surprised that Caudalie, obviously a French skincare brand, would claim to be inspired by Asian beauty when they released the Caudalie Vinoperfect Concentrated Brightening Essence. But Mathilde Thomas did live in Asia for quite a bit, so I guess it is only natural that she got inspired there.

“We sometimes have to distance ourselves from what we have always known in order to find new inspiration,” says Thomas. “Since living in Asia, I have been fascinated by the skin of Korean women. Their beauty routine is incredibly rich and should no longer face any obstacles. I created this essence to beautify women and reveal their radiance every day.

Inspired by the Asian skincare routine, this lightweight, refined formula is both gentle and effective, leaving skin feeling smoothed, plumped and illuminated. Glycolic Acid works to eliminate dead skin cells, whilst extracts from White Peony revitalizes the skin to reveal a more even, healthy-glow. Enriched with Caudalie’s signature grape water, the Vinoperfect Concentrated Brightening Essence also contains hydrating, soothing and moisturizing properties for a beautifully flawless complexion.

The fluid formula penetrates the skin almost instantaneously, preparing the skin for the active anti-dark spot ingredients present in the Vinoperfect Radiance Serum.

The full ingredients list:
Aqua/water/eau, vitis vinifera (grape) fruit water, citrus aurantium amara (bitter orange) flower water, glycerin, methylpropanediol, glycolic acid, caprylyl/capryl glucoside, sodium hydroxide, vitis vinifera (grape) juice, caprylyl glycol, citric acid, arginine, sodium benzoate, paeonia lactiflora root extract*, phenylpropanol, potassium sorbate, sodium phytate, linalool, limonene.

The Concentrated Brightening Essence looks just like water. It even feels like water when applied, absorbing quickly with no residue or film—just a light orange blossom scent and a feeling of instant refreshment and hydration. You can use a cotton pad or do what Asian women do and press the product into skin with your bare palms and fingers.

Of course, the Concentrated Brightening Essence shouldn’t be used alone—one of its key purposes is to prepare the skin to receive the active ingredients of Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum and make the latter work even better. This was my first time using the Radiance Serum, and I loved its milky lightweight texture.

So, can you use one product or the other? Yes, but they are definitely better together. Think about it—one product exfoliates and hydrates and brightens as the first step, and prepares skin to receive the potent viniferine in the second step and all the brightening benefits it confers. The textures of both work together so harmoniously with each other and layered under other products.

Who I Recommend?
I feel like every skin benefits from an acid exfoliation step, and if you aren’t acne prone and not overly sensitive, glycolic acid is a great choice.

Oh, and it comes in a duo with the Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum (Review coming up), so if you are a fan of sets, this might be for you.

Results-wise, there’s no way to tell where the effectiveness of one product ends and the other product begins, but there have been results in the last few weeks of testing.  Caudalie Brightening Essence (let’s shorten its name) is not a miraculous product but I swear, after applying it my skin looks much brighter and after applying the serum it looks even better. Definitely recommended.

Have you tried any products from Caudalie? If yes, name it and share your thought on the comment down below! 🙂

See ya, and Let’s be more beautiful tomorrow!!
